We all know responsive web design is the best thing ever. Nobody disputes that!
Previously, in Mouseflow, if you wanted to see a heatmap rendered for a particular breakpoint, you’d have to resize your screen. Not anymore! We’re pleased to announce that our heatmaps are now fully responsive which means you can switch between different device types directly from within our heatmaps.
Here’s how to switch between device types (Desktop, Tablet, Phone, or All Devices) – it couldn’t be easier:
How Does it Work?
We added a menu option that filters for data from specific device types/layouts. Don’t worry, you’re not going to see data from all devices crammed into a phone or tablet view. This would be a sign of a bad analytics tool, shame. Not Mouseflow.
When you filter, you see just the data from visitors on a phone or tablet, as expected. It’s awesome… thanks to our developers drinking a lot of coffee.
Of course, you can still switch between heatmap types (Click, Movement, Scroll, and Attention) – pick from the menu and voila:
These two features allow you to see and understand how visitors behave in different contexts (click, movement, etc.) and across different devices. Want to see why visitors don’t behave consistently between devices on your checkout? It’s easy – open up these heatmaps and analyze away…
You may have noticed the “All Devices” option, as well. We’re super excited about this: it allows you to see data from everyone combined into an aggregate heatmap. We automatically adjust/normalize the data, so you can analyze data from multiple devices in a way that makes sense. That’s an industry first!
So, give these new heatmap options a try and let us know what you think in the comments below.
And, for the super nerds, you can filter for specific browsers, operating systems, screen resolutions, and much more in the heatmap lists and then open a particular heatmap to view that specific segment. Enjoy! 🙂
